the prayer flags

meet another dawn

early morning
     an unknown host
        provides a continuing presence

that long sleep's breathing

resurrected

by sun, shadows and birdsong

the claim of passing thoughts
conclude                     
a repertoire of conversation

the long siege of ageing
              recalls
       traces of an earlier self
